Aspirin is a form of salicylic acid; the same ingredient in acne fighting face and body products. So in case you’re wondering why there is aspirin in this mask, there is your answer. Salicylic acid is useful in fighting dandruff and acne because it has been proven to unclog pores of dead skin, exfoliate and soften thick scaly skin (which is great for dandruff), and soothe painful acne. When paired with activated charcoal which is like a super absorbing, crazy magnet-type sponge that soaks up toxins and removes dry patches, you’ve got yourself a pretty amazing at-home face mask and scalp treatment.

INGREDIENTS

Small glass bowl
3 emptied gel capsules of Activated Charcoal (To open the gel caps, simply twist the two halves and gently pull apart slowly)
3-5 uncoated Aspirin*
2 Teaspoons Organic Raw Honey
1 Teaspoon alcohol-free Rose Petal Witch Hazel or tap water

Slowly open the gel caps and pour the Activated Charcoal into a glass bowl. Add your aspirin. Again, slowly (no really slowly because the charcoal is so fine it only takes a little movement to have it up your nose) add your Rose Petal Witch Hazel which will act as an astringent and help to keep your skin calm. Once the aspirin has dissolved, add in a teaspoon of Organic Raw Honey. Honey is a humectant that will help to keep your face from drying out from the salicylic acid which is naturally drying to skin. Mix together well and immediately apply to your face or scalp. If you are using this on your scalp, you can dip a makeup sponge into the mixture to apply it to keep the messiness factor low.

You can use this mask on your face three times a week and on your scalp twice a week, but be sure to do a patch test and play around with the mixture to see what your skin and scalp like best. *If you have any aspirin allergies, do not use this mask on your scalp or body.
