Mother’s day was Sunday. And as you read this you may be thinking, “I knew that but I didn’t and I kinda forgot.” Of course your mom told you she was okay that you didn’t go all out and book her a trip to Rome, but we know you feel a little guilty that in your last minute scrambling, all of the good reservations were taken and all of the prettiest cards had already been sold. It’s time to go into Olivia Pope mode and fix your boo boo with a comfort food make up meal for mom.

Comfort food dessert is exactly the cure for your own blues – remember how you ate all of that ice cream that one time you were crying and how good it made you feel (we’ve all been there). Hey, mom is more than likely over it, but you feel bad. So whip her up something quick, sweet and comforting so you can settle your nerves and feel like a champ and she can eat like the champ she already is.

ROSEWATER MERINGUE WITH BLACK CURRANTS AND CREAM
This dessert is not as complicated as it looks but it does take a little kitchen know how or bravado (meringue take a little wrist action that can be tricky). If it does not scare you, then we’re sure mom will love how you show off your skills with this culinary treat.

LEMON AND VANILLA POACHED PLUMS
If your mom loves plums then she’ll probably love this simple poached dish of plums, vanilla and syrup. Top it off with whipped cream or french vanilla ice cream and you’re good to go.

HOMEMADE TWIX CANDY BARS
The name alone is a mouthful and so is the taste. Surprisingly, homemade twix candy bars are much easier to make than they look and you don’t even have to be an expert baker to learn how to make this because it’s so freaking simple! #Winning.

TWISTED COOKIES WITH ROLLED IN SUGAR
These cookies are another simple but tasty comfort dessert. If you can make (or buy) dough and roll in some sugar, then you can make these cookies and make up with mom. You can even make these with colored sugar. Yum.
