We don’t test out a lot of transitioning products because so many “regluar” products can be used as “transitioners” but now that Miss Jessie’s has toted as their new cream as the ultimate styler for transitioning hair, we wanted to see if the claims rang true. I was told it was similar to a styler of theirs, Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls, and was encouraged to try it out for wash and go styling. Now, my hair is fully natural but Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic is marketed towards anyone who is looking for a great wash and go product.

This cream is a frizz fighting, all-in-one product for transitioning hair; a leave-in conditioner and styler. It’s formulated with some healthy ingredients including safflower seed oil, avocado oil, wheat germ oil, pumpkin seed extract and spirulina and to moisturize new growth and coats relaxed hair to blend the two textures while fighting curl shrinkage.

I’m long past the days of transitioning, however, since Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic says it can be used as a leave-in and styler, I did just that but using the product by itself. The consistency is slippery and thick, but not too thick which I think is great for those of you who are transitioning. You’ll also need a bit more than stated if you’re fully naturally. It went on my hair smoothly and dried in a reasonable amount of time and this seemed to work better on damp hair and not soaking we hair. The claims of frizz fighting weren’t too off as there was less frizz throughout the week than normal. It did help elongate my curls which eliminated some of the volume I’m used to. My hair felt coated as well which helped in retaining moisture but at the same time my hair felt a little stringy. To be fair my hair felt good but has looked better in other wash and go’s but this is just my initial review and I’ll be using it as a styler in my twists and other styles. My coarse strands drank up the product so I had to reapply it later in the week to refresh my curls.

Do we like this product – yes, but we are not in love just yet. Overall, we’ll be testing this product out again on our various hair textures to see if we can get more use out of this. Either way, Miss Jessie’s Transitioner’s Magic would be great for those who are transitioning and have lots of new growh to help smooth out their roots as well those whose hair is of a finer texture.
