We can sometimes be none committal. That’s simply because when it comes to beauty, the rules can change so fast that one thing you love today you may forget about tomorrow. We have our holy grails which we keep on hand at all times, but there are a few products that we like to rotate whenever. One of those things is a heat protectant. As long as it protects up to 450 degrees and does not leave our hair sticky or greasy then we are good. But like all things, wrenches can be thrown in the game and we think we found a heat styling wrench.
We always advise readers (and follow our own advice) to use a heat protectant during the blow dry process and while flat ironing. This two-step approach lays the groundwork to keep most of your hair in your head. You can use the same heat protectant for each step if you want or you could try L’Oreal’s Blow It Dry’ Line.
The first step is the L’Oreal Blow Dry It Quick Dry Primer Spray, a light mist heat protectant spray that is used during your blow out. It works on damp hair to speed up your blow drying time while protecting your hair from heat damage. It actually gets rid of excess water in your hair which helps it dry up to two times faster. Less heat time means there is a decreased chances for heat damage. The second step is the L’Oreal Blow It Dry Thermal Smoother Cream which is a light cream formulated to tame your hair and cut down on frizz and flyaways and also protect your hair against heat styling and humidity. The second steps helps to seal your hair against humidity all while protecting it from heat once again.
The third and optional step is the L’Oreal Blow It Dry Long Wear Spray. This one is only for blonde girls unfortunately because like tons of other dry shampoos, this shampoo dries out your scalp nicely but leaves a dusty coating behind that will look like dandruff on anyone with hair darker than a rich blonde hue. But the idea is great though and provides a third step in extending your blow out or press out.
The smell of all the products is really, really nice in a very typical L’Oreal fashion. It’s a little heavy, but that’s a good thing because it helps to counteract the “cooked hair” smell that a blow dryer or flat iron can leave behind. And speaking of smells, that Quick Dry Primer Spray works great as a hair refresher after a long night out when you don’t have time to wash your hair.
