Old fashion shampoo. Hmmm…not really something that sounds appealing immediately. We like to think that probably has a lot to do with the fact that we are now inundated with product names like “coco olive butta shampoo” or “rain forest dream conditioner.” Are we right? But there is still something to be said about a product that takes it back to basics, and in our JR Liggett’s Shampoo Bar review you’ll soon understand where our immense love for this tiny, simple, old-fashion bar comes into play.

We love a good shampoo bar and one with olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil and handmade in New Hampshire with pure New Hampshire spring water? Come on now, you’ve got to see where we are going here. The little bar lathers like nobody’s business and is great for permed, colored hair and naturally curly hair. When you take it out the wrapper, all you see is a little bar of “soap”, but soap this is not. It’s indeed shampoo and because it is not a liquid, each bar equals about as much as a traditional 24 oz. bottle of traditional shampoo.

The lather was nice but the most immediate thing you’ll notice about this bar and the way it cleanses is that it does not strip your hair. It washes out clean and fast and we love the small size. This is the true definition of “throw it in the bag” when you need to hit the road. It’s perfect for gym bags (ladies trust us on this one – this little shampoo bar packs up nicely), camping and even fun for kids to use on their hair. It’s so luxurious that we didn’t even feel like we needed conditioner after using it which is saying a whole lot. Not many shampoos deliver at that level. That’s because it’s chock full of 100% oils that moisturize hair and though we did go the conditioner route, it was good to know our hair was clean and not over stripped after using this old fashion shampoo. We used the original bar though J.R. Liggett’s Old Fashioned Bar Shampoo comes in a variety of “flavors” including their Herbal Forumla, Tea Tree & Hemp Oil, Damaged Hair Formula, Jojoba & Peppermint (yum!), Ultra Balanced and Virgin Coconut & Argan (we can’t wait to try this one).

It’s a little retro and fun which we like, but we love the fact that it works, moisturizes and is all natural.
