If you’ve been on the fence about trying nail art, maybe you’ll want to start rethinking that and work on stepping up your manicure game after hearing us out. Nail art has come a long way even in the last few years. It has been remixed and long gone are the days of gaudy, over-the-top nails that are not only impractical but super high maintenance. Coupled with gel coats that last for two weeks, nail art has been redefined. Anyone can appreciate a beautiful, glossy and classic Lincoln Park After Dark or Ballet Slippers set of nails, there is no denying that. But allow us, or at least Hannah, to persuade you to step outside of the box if only for one of your next nail appointments.
We’ve mentioned Hannah before for a few reasons. One, she has amazing taste in healthy food and two, homegirl knows who to whip up a smoothie like nobodies business. From her Girls and Drake nails to the pop culture quotes, her nails are inspiring us to try our hand (see what we did there?) at our own set of graphic gel nail art that tells a story. Love flowers? There are designs for you. If you are more in Monet than Basquiat, there is still something that can be created for you. Think of your nail bed as a mini blank canvas waiting to be painted in modern pop culture art.
There are specialized nail artists around the country that can give you nails like this but you have to call around if you don’t already have someone who can whip these designs up. Check Yelp for “nail art” reviews or go to the best place of them all to find inspiration and a nail salon–Instagram. You’ll be surprised at just how many graphic nail artists and salons you’ll come across. If you are in Los Angeles, check out our friends at Kleur Nail Art Collective. Ask for Nita and tell her we sent you.
