There’s no time like the present to finally own a full matching, quality set of makeup brushes. But we realize, price dilemma. We’ve all been there, pinning and cyber shopping brush options only to chicken out right before we hit the purchase button. One brush for $16 or so we can justify. Maybe even that amazing foundation brush that’s a little more than double that, but a whole set of brushes that will put us back a pair of shoes, a weeks worth of Starbucks and maybe having to skip paying the light bill for a month? Um no, and our TV financial evangelist, Suze Orman, would not approve of such financial foolishness. Balling on a budget is always a good idea until one can afford a splurge which is why you’ll be happy to know that this Premium Synthetic Kabuki Makeup Brush Set–the entire set, the whole kit and kaboodle–costs only…drum roll please. At first glace, in the tube, blue lipstick is easily ignored. Easily labeled gothic or “for crazy millennial kids who still shop at Hot Topic.” It’s not something a girl who fancies her classic reds and pinks and perfectly hued nudes who normally fall for. But we think blue lipstick is one of the bad boys of lip color. Not a true gothic color like black and not exactly safe enough like purple hues, blue is unforgiving in its aesthetic and calls for attention unrelentingly which is why blue lipstick on dark skin is a must. Let us explain why. [Read more…]
Shakespeare once said, “Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs.” We like to say that love can be conveyed with smokey eyes. Yes, Valentine’s Day has come and gone but love is still in the air. I have to admit that Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite times of the year. When you love what you do, or you love everything about life it will show in more ways the one. [Read more…]
In the creative world of makeup, people tend to stay inside a box. Many find that it’s “safter” there. One thing I realized is that makeup has no rules. With this red smokey eyeshadow and pink lipstick look we just went for it and donned Priscilla’s eyes in red and finished her lips off with a pastel, opaque pink lip. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, this would be a great look for a night out on the town. [Read more…]
We’re suckers for one classic Christmas beauty cliche–the red lip. Though we’re big on trying new things (like we talked about for this beautiful fall makeup look) there is something about the holidays and impending new year that scream red lips. Maybe it’s the excitement, the red everywhere or the mistletoe kisses, but a beautiful red lip always ups the holiday fancy this time of year. Add to that black, glittery, smokey eyes and we’re done. Orange lipstick is universally flattering and looks good on year round. It especially looks great in the fall when mother natures’s warmly hued canvas provides a beautiful backdrop for your orange lipstick.
