We often associate brown and orange with fall, but I think that we can never really see the true beauty behind such great colors when we limit them to only the latter part of the year. Granted, this brown, smokey eye look that Amena is wearing was definitely inspired by fall and now soon to be winter in all its glory, but this look would work year round. I played her beautiful eyes up with a very sultry brown shadow and created a vibrant coral-orange glow on her cheeks. The thought of brown and orange together may seem all too “That 70s Show”, but I assure you, this combination is far from dated.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons for makeup because of the gorgeous array of deep, rich and vibrant colors that make skin and eyes glow in contrast to cloudy skies. When creating a brown smokey eye for brown eyes, there are no hard and fast rules but do look for brown shadows that are a little lighter than your eye color. For Amena’s eyes, I used a light brown eyeshadow pencil as her eyeshadow base and topped that off with MAC Embark Eyeshadow as well as a couple of swipes of a sable eyeshadow and an espresso eyeshadow, the two browns from the Lorac Pro Palette. On her cheeks I used MAC ‘Gold Deposit’ Mineralized Skin Finish as the base topped with NYX ‘Love’ Mosaic Powder Blush which is a pretty tangerine and coral hued blush and finished her face off with with Sephora ‘Star Dust’ MicroSmooth Baked Luminizer for a glowing highlight. On her lips she’s wearing a brownish, peach nude lip gloss with light peach shimmer. The one I used has been discontinued, but MAC ‘Oh Baby’ Tinted Lipglass is a pretty option for the same but even prettier look.

Play around with this look for yourself to play up your brown eyes (though brown smoke looks good on any color eyes) and feel the happiness and beauty that come with the season!
