When deciding to do a blue eyeliner look, it was clear from the start that I not only needed to show how beautiful this plays on black skin but how it stuns on all black skin tones. Our blackness is beautifully hued and varied; we are a people made up of a multitude of shades but so often it’s our darker skinned sisters who are left out of the conversations around makeup for black women. One of the beautiful things about darker black skin is that it makes an amazing canvas for makeup. Playing with color, light and contrast on dark skin is an art in the study of beauty itself.

Both Dolly and Nikia have beautiful complexions and like Nikia’s look, I was going for contrast to show how beautiful blue liner can be as a makeup choice for black women. For this look, I decided to try something more dramatic and striking but still fun. Wearing thick winged blue eyeliner is admittedly a bit more risky than Lady Loves The Blues Pt. 1 of this look, but I guarantee that you will be a show stopper with eyes graced in such a daring, vibrant blue winged liner. LaTasha highlighted her face lightly with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Gold Deposit and I winged her eyes with the same NYX Extreme Blue Studio Liquid Eyeliner?that I used on Nikia, but how I used it brings out the glossiness of this liner which is even more beautiful in person. The result also demonstrates exactly why you should try blue liner for yourself as soon as possible. This is definitely an evening look but one that would go perfectly with a date at your favorite fancy sushi or steak spot, a pair of skinny jeans and that top that falls just right for just a hit of cleavage.

Dolly On Her Look: “Blue being my favorite color, I was excited about wearing a bold yet edgy liner. The straight cut is very risqu? but the color sits so well on my skin that the drama actually works out perfectly! I never thought that I would like a glossy eye makeup on me and that is definitely about to change now. I love that this look is both daring and fun!”
