A good hair masque can make any curly girl’s day. When it comes to deep conditioning and treating curls, no one wants a product that takes all day. A product that works under 30 minutes is a winner in our book and one that’s also paraben, sulfate, mineral oil and gmo, free and full of pure organic bamboo extract just ads more icing on the eco-friendly cake.

Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi-Intense Moisture Masque is a deep treatment that works by tackling dryness and frizz. The smell is crisp and clean and it’s full of organic bamboo and kendi oil which works to transform your hair from dry and rough to sleek and shiny curls. Our coarse and fine curls felt stronger after using this mask that goes on nice and thick just the way we like it.

Both the bamboo and kendi oil in this mask are highly sustainable, ethically traded, eco-certified, fair-trade compliant, and certified organic. Kendi oil works by repairing and maintaining the hair’s lipid layer. It protects hair from future damage by infusing it with multiple essential fatty acids (omegas 3,6,9) and antioxidant powerhouse tocopherol. This mask is also a color-friendly as their “Color Hold” technology helps to retain and protect your hair color.

The directions say to use this in shower for three minutes, but we wanted to get much more bang for our buck. a 30 minute out of shower treatment covered with plastic cap left us with really soft hair. We made sure to concentrate on the middle and ends of our hair and not the roots which is where curly hair tends to be the driest. The slip is great which helped immensely with detangling and getting our dry curls back to business. coarse hair will love this mask as will those with fine hair. Admittedly, we didn’t see much of a frizz-less difference on coarse hair but for curls on the finer spectrum it helped to reduce the frizzies. overall, this Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi-Intense Moisture Masque delivered well for its claims.
