This is one of those combinations in hair products where you can happily and easily cut out a traditional rinse out conditioner and leave-in and feel good about it. You can can also feel good about using Alaffia Shea & Virgin Coconut Orange Geranium Shampoo and Alaffia Shea & Virgin Coconut Orange Geranium Hair Lotion knowing that the company works hard to make sure that their shea butter is always Certified Fair Trade. A do good company with do good products that feel good. We’re here for it.

Alaffia Shea & Virgin Coconut Orange Geranium Shampoo and Alaffia Shea & Virgin Coconut Orange Geranium Hair Lotion are all natural, Social & Fairtrade Certified, vegan, paraben and gluten free. That’s a mouthfull but it’s great to know that a company puts so much effort into making sure their brand is the best it can be. Anybody can make a bottle of shampoo, throw a fancy label on it and call it green, unfortunately. The shampoo is formulated with really great ingredients like Non-GMO shea butter, palm kernel, coconut oil and geranium oil. We’re not women to shy away from shea butter (the more the merrier!) but the geranium seemed a bit extra. Geranium conjured up thought of the plants our grandmothers had in her garden and though they are pretty, it made us wonder if geranium could really benefit our hair. After some research we learned that actually it does and can. Though it may not look like it, the geranium is a member of the rose family and we’ve long touted the benefits of rose oil. Geranium oil strengthens hair and it’s also anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and antiseptic by nature. It also regulates the secretion of scalp sebum which is perfect for those of use who battle oily scalps.

Both the hair lotion and shampoo smell good and have that classic Alaffia scent — an herbal, citrus, floral aroma that’s not too overpowering. After a good wash that left our curls nice, really nice, and supple, we applied the hair lotion. Because it has glycerin, shea butter, coconut oil and panthenol, we didn’t need to use leave-in since we were using this. But here’s the thing that stood out the most — the moisture was not greasy or silicone-y or overwhelming. It was perfectly balanced so much so that if we had wanted to straighten our hair afterwards, this creamy hair lotion went on so light but left our hair feeling so moisturized that we could tell our hair would have straightened easily and felt like silk.

Let us not forget to mention how pretty those bottles are and it means even more that they are holding really good products that work on all curl types and hair textures. Alaffia Shea & Virgin Coconut Orange Geranium Shampoo and Alaffia Shea & Virgin Coconut Orange Geranium Hair Lotion are were it’s at. We’re totally here for this combination right now. So here for it.
